About
Berry Beautiful produces high-quality seed oils and powders from US-grown crops, focusing on sustainability and freshness. Our main resources are red raspberry seeds, locally sourced from Whatcom County farms during the summer berry harvest, and US-grown cranberry seeds. Working directly with farmers and fruit processors, we ensure that our seeds are sourced responsibly.
During harvest, we dry the seeds at low temperatures (below 120°F), preserving the essential nutrients within. Once dried, we meticulously clean the seeds to remove pomace, and then cold-press them year-round at our Vashon Island facility. This process maintains the oils’ purity and freshness. We use specialized cold-press equipment that allows us to produce in small batches, ensuring quality. By repurposing what was once a waste stream for berry processing sheds, we create valuable oils and powders for skincare and health-conscious consumers.
Why we're Green
As a small, family-run business, we’ve committed to sustainability by minimizing our environmental impact at each stage. One of our main challenges was finding a way to make use of byproducts like raspberry seeds, which were previously treated as waste by processing sheds. By repurposing these seeds into valuable oils and powders, we’ve effectively eliminated waste from this step of the supply chain. Additionally, we made the shift to eco-friendly packaging and continuously seek alternatives to reduce single-use plastics.
We've also invested in energy-efficient drying and cold-pressing equipment, which operates at low temperatures to preserve the quality of our products without excessive energy use. Our move to in-house operations for everything from production to packaging also reduces transportation emissions, making our process as low-impact as possible. These efforts have helped us achieve our certification, embodying our commitment to environmentally responsible practices.
