About
The City of Goleta was incorporated in 2002, making it one of the youngest cities in California, and provides municipal services to more than 30,000 people who live there. Our mission is to conduct the City's business in the most efficient, transparent and professional way possible to support a vibrant and sustainable community. The City maintains infrastructure (roads, parks, libraries), supports development through planning services, and helps strategically develop resources and programs for the betterment of the community. The City works to support a cleaner, greener Goleta for all residents and businesses, and will continue to strive today and tomorrow for a better future.
Why we're Green
The City of Goleta is committed to supporting a green, sustainable community and leading by example with its own internal practices, which is why we became a certified Green Business. The City recently bought the building where City Hall is located, and has had to update many fixtures and internal processes for the larger space that it now occupies. Practices to reduce emissions and environmental impact that the City now implements is a flexible remote work policy (2 days in office), a transportation demand program to incentivize alternative commutes, a 100% renewable electricity goal, and a new community-wide plastics reduction policy that limits single use plastic use.
